Wooden moulding — natural texture for painting and restoration
Wooden moulding is the most expensive in the catalogue: from 139 up to 850 RUB per linear metre against 20 to 40 RUB for polystyrene. The difference is the material — solid timber with visible grain that ages along with the work rather than a printed imitation. Stock comes from Turkey and China, with small batches from Russia and Italy.
When to choose wood
Wooden moulding is chosen for original oil paintings, valuable graphics, restoration work, and anything meant to last for decades. Solid timber holds its geometry on large formats without sagging and allows gilding and hand toning, neither of which is possible on polystyrene. Lengths are mainly 3000 and 2900 mm, with profiles from 22 to 99 mm wide.
What the section holds
More than half the section is classical profiles with moulded decoration — the standard for framing academic painting. A distinct group is the reverse profile, which widens from the artwork towards the outer edge and visually enlarges a small canvas. Colours are led by brown and bronze and by gold, with wenge, silver and a few coloured options. Eight items are pine.
