Fluorescent paints — glow under ultraviolet light
Fluorescent paints are a special category of acrylic with pigments that glow under a UV lamp. In normal daylight, such paints look like bright neon shades — lemon yellow, hot pink, acid green, neon blue. And when the UV light is turned on, the drawing literally starts to glow: the paint becomes an independent source of radiance.
Where it's used
Fluorescent paints are a feature for interior works with lighting, decorating parties, themed quests, photo zones, nightclubs, and children's rooms. On a paint-by-numbers picture with UV effect, the regular subject is visible during the day, and in the evening, under a Wood lamp, a second layer appears — stars in the sky, glowing windows in houses, character outlines. A great gift idea with a "surprise effect."
Fluorescent acrylic is also widely used in body art, aqua makeup (after testing on sensitive skin), and decorative painting on wood and ceramics.
Working features
The paint is opaque and dense, but it's recommended to apply it to a white or light background — on a dark surface, the brightness is noticeably lost. For maximum glow, canvases with white acrylic primer work well. Under a regular indoor UV lamp, the effect is already visible, but the most powerful glow is given by a lamp with a wavelength of 365–395 nm.
