The 40x50 cm format: 0.2 square metres, the design stays large and the work is done in ten to fifteen evenings. It matters that a first painting gets finished, otherwise interest fades halfway through the sky — too large a format works against you at the start.
As a guide: if 40x50 takes ten to fifteen evenings of an hour each, 80x120 takes two to three times longer. The exact time also depends on difficulty: at levels 4 and 5 the sectors are smaller and every centimetre goes slower.
The canvas is stretched on a wooden frame at the factory, so once dry the painting hangs as it is — no frame, no glass, no trip to a framing shop. Choose fixings with a weight margin: a stretched canvas is heavier than it looks.
In the ready-made catalogue it is 80x120 cm — 0.96 square metres, nearly a metre of wall each way. If you need something bigger, it is made to order from a photo, where sizes go up to 150x250 cm.
